Entry Two

Entry Two: Eleanor & Park

Complexity: Park, in the past few chapters, has been really wanting to find ways to communicate with Eleanor because he finds her very interesting. Eleanor also wants to go out and make new friends but her shyness is what makes it very hard for her to interact with anyone outside of her family. I predict that Park will do something that will get Eleanor to talk to him and pop out of her shell, and they will slowly start to become better friends.

Theme: One main theme that has been present to me so far is; family is important. This theme applies very greatly for Eleanor. Eleanor is the new girl at her new school and she is also a very shy person which makes it hard for her to become friends with people. After a long day at school where she feels like a nobody, she can go home and be surrounded with people who make her feel comfortable and that love her.

Structure of the book: The structure of the way this book is written is actually very interesting. In one chapter, is focuses directly on what Eleanor thinks and says to other people, and in the following chapter, it just focuses on what Park thinks and says to other people. What I like a lot about this book, is that instead of giving the chapters actual names, it just gives the words "Park" and "Eleanor" and strictly revolves around them only. I hope it remains like this throughout the whole book because I get to fully understand what is happening with both characters, but I predict that Eleanor and Park will become better friends and some chapters will be called "Eleanor & Park" and talk about what the two of them do together, instead of seperately.

Entry One

Entry One: Eleanor & Park

For my summer reading project, I chose to read the book Eleanor & Park. I heard about this book from a few of my friends, and one of my friends said that she enjoyed the book very thoroughly and that it was her favorite book that she has ever read. I also have heard rumors that they are going to make this into a movie, so be on the lookout.

Main Characters: One of the main characters in this book is named Eleanor. Eleanor is described as a girl who has red hair. She also is described as a person who is the oldest in her family of four other siblings. One final description of Eleanor is that she is the new girl at the school and is very shy.

One other main character in this books name is Park. Park is described as a boy who is a huge comic book fan and has one younger brother. He comes from a family of an Irish/American father and a Korean mother.

Setting: This book takes place in the big city of Omaha, Nebraska.

Conflict: The only conflict that has been happening in this book so far is that Eleanor & Park have just started talking and it's very awkward between the two of them, but, I believe that in the future these two will fall in love.
